Alcan Inc. announced today the official opening of its AU$20 million STELVIN® aluminum wine screw cap closures production facility in Adelaide, Australia. The facility, which employs 60 people, will produce a high end, superior alternative to traditional closures for the rapidly growing Australian and New Zealand wine markets.
"This new facility is a further step in Alcan Packaging’s strategy to expand its geographic footprint into growing and competitive markets, thereby enabling it to better serve customers’ needs in the region," said Christel Bories, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alcan Packaging. "Our leading position in aluminum wine closures is built on innovative and high quality products, such as Alcan’s Stelvin® wine cap, which is growing in popularity due to its practicality and high performance versus traditional wine corks," she added.
Last year, Alcan announced the acquisition of the capsules and closures distribution businesses of Classic Packaging and Nellie Products, former exclusive distributors of Alcan’s Stelvin® caps, to further support the Adelaide facility.
