RUSAL, a global top-three aluminium producer, announces the achievement of an international quality management standard ISO 9001 certificate by its Aluminium Division. The certificate was issued by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international auditing company based in Norway, which confirms that RUSAL produces and supplies its products in full compliance with contractual obligations.
The Aluminium Division includes Bratsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk and Sayanogorsk smelters that were previously audited separately for the ISO 9001. The establishment of a divisional structure and increased control over production quality prompted the creation of a unified Quality Management System within the Division.
«This project is the largest for DNV in terms of the Risk-based Certification approach. Considering the fact that RUSAL's Aluminium Division includes two of the world's biggest aluminium smelters, the result is all the more impressive», — said Eugeni Chernov, Head of DNV Moscow. «All of the processes, from order to delivery, that are carried out within the Management Company and the smelters have undergone auditing. We are pleased to note on the high standards of client relations and strict abidance by all contractual obligations on the part of RUSAL».
One of the major consumers of RUSAL's products is the automobile industry. To satisfy clients from this industry, the Aluminium Division has created a quality management system that complies with not only the ISO 9001 but also with ISO/TS 16949 standards. The Aluminium Division's ISO/TS 16949 certification is scheduled for the end of the summer of 2006.
In addition, by the end of 2006, RUSAL plans to have established within the Aluminium Division an environmental management system and integrated it with the quality management system. This would mean that by 2007, RUSAL's integrated management system will be certified in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 è ISO/TS 16949.
