PowdermatriX Faraday is sponsoring the workshop on Metal Injection Moulding of Titanium Powder at the Euro PM2006 Conference in Belgium. PowdermatriX Faraday is the node of the Materials Knowledge Transfer Network which focuses on powder metals, advanced ceramics, hard metals and magnetics.
As the unique properties of titanium are more widely exploited in aerospace, medical applications and chemical applications, interest is growing in the advantages offered by powder based processes.
PowdermatriX Technology Translator David Whittaker explained: “The poor material utilisation in wrought-route processing of titanium is stimulating an increased interest in net-shape manufacture from powders.”
David, who also co-chairs the PM Titanium Group of the EPMA (the European Powder Metallurgy Association) , has worked with Dr Frank Petzoldt of Fraunhofer IFAM to organise the half day workshop. David commented, “At last year’s Euro PM Conference in Prague, a special workshop considered PM processing of titanium in general, prompting this second workshop focused on MIM. The workshop will assess the needs and expectations of potential end users of MIM titanium products and will examine the responses to these challenges of both parts manufacturers and powder producers.”
The half day Workshop is on Wednesday 25 October at Euro PM2006, Ghent, Belgium. Further information and booking details are available from the EPMA on 01743 248 899 or email: [email protected].
