POSCO Implement Electronic Data Interchange to Ensure Smooth Steel Supply

POSCO has developed an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system to provide a stable supply of automotive steel plates to an overseas automobile client. Operations are set to begin on August 21, 2006.

Ford Australia, one of POSCO`s leading automotive clients, requested POSCO to build this system. With it, POSCO can process client`s production plans, orders, and shipments within a single platform as well as share information and provide satisfactory products.

POSCO`s EDI system for Ford Australia will automatically calculate consumption and order process with real-time tracking and is expected to reduce processing times from one day to one minute.

With the previous process, POSCO received Ford`s production plan and monthly consumption in order to manually calculate consumption. Orders were received via wired communication measures and POSCO`s Marketing Department, along with POSCO`s subsidiary company in Australia (POSA) manually processed these data.

POSCO is planning to add a one-click processing feature to its EDI system to connect the system to many other overseas automotive clients.
