Dyesol is pleased to announce the signing of a collaborative agreement appointing a leading Japanese supplier of industrial chemicals and developer of innovative industrial processes as exclusive distributor of Dyesol's DSC materials and components.
Dyesol’s Japanese partner, Catalysts and Chemicals Industries Co. Ltd (CCIC) was established in 1958 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of JGC Corporation, a world leading engineering contractor headquartered in Japan. With close to 400 employees CCIC’s main business is in the manufacture and sale of catalysts for the petroleum refining and fine chemicals industry. Building on its experience in catalysts, CCIC has developed a number of innovative technologies for creating nano-materials used in products such as semiconductors, liquid crystal displays, solar cells and fuel cells.
Dyesol Managing Director Sylvia Tulloch, says the strategic value of the collaboration was excellent on two fronts. “We are extremely pleased to be involved with CCIC because the application of their existing expertise in industrial scale systems for manufacture of nano-materials has the potential to greatly accelerate mass production of dye sensitised solar cells,” Ms Tulloch said. “Uniting CCIC’s nano-materials preparation technology with Dyesol’s nano-photochemical science is very exciting.”
“Secondly, this agreement is for Dyesol a significant step along the path of a long term plan to build a significant market presence in Japan, the world’s largest single and fastest developing market for all forms of PV products” Ms Tulloch said. “Having CCIC active as a highly regarded and reliable supplier of quality materials in the Japanese market is the essential first step in Japan to implement Dyesol’s business strategy of seeding new DSC labs, product developers and manufacturers in the worlds biggest PV markets.”
Under the terms of the agreement CCIC will be the exclusive distributor in Japan of Dyesol’s DSC materials and components.
CCIC and Dyesol will publicly launch their venture in Japan with a joint presence at the International Solar Energy Society’s annual conference and technology expo which this year is being held in Chiba. The ISES event is the world’s premier annual meeting for the solar power industry. "Renewable Energy 2006” which runs from October 9-13th has attracted substantial backing from the Japanese government. It is expected to attract thousands of industry participants from around the world and representatives from across the Japanese solar power industry as well as from companies planning an entry to the industry.
