$17m Steel Tube Expansion for Smorgon Steel

Australian steel producer Smorgon Steel are to spend $17 million on expanding their tube making facilities at Acacia Ridge in Queensland. The decision has been brought about by increased demands, from domestic and international sources.

The expansion will involve the establishment of new tube mills. These new mills will result in production being boosted by 60% or more then 30,000 tonnes per year for the Acacia Ridge operation.

The expanded capacity will also create 72 jobs.
