Hardide Coatings Limited, the surface engineering technology company, has appointed Joe Howell as technical sales manager for its business in Aberdeen and Scandinavia providing patented tungsten carbide-based component coatings to the oil and gas, valve and pump industries.
Joe Howell is the second sales manager servicing these markets for Oxfordshire-based Hardide Coatings. He has over 20 years experience in drilling and materials sales based in Aberdeen and London with various companies such as Aberdeen Engineering Services, Darron Oil Tools and Sperry-Sun Drilling Services. He joins from the steel division of the Mitsubishi Corporation (Metal One London) where he was responsible for sales of oilfield tubular products in North Africa and the Middle East.
Jim Murray-Smith, chief executive officer of Hardide plc said: “We are already supplying coatings to some of the biggest and most innovative downhole companies in Scotland and Norway, and we have trials ongoing with many more. The north east of Scotland is key to our growth in Europe so the appointment of a second technical sales manager is a logical move as we increase our presence in the market and look towards establishing a manufacturing facility in the region.”
Hardide Coatings has developed a unique tungsten carbide-based coating which offers an unprecedented combination of ultra-hardness, toughness, low friction and chemical resistance when applied to components made from steel, alloy and other materials. Together with features such as its ability to coat internal surfaces, Hardide is proven to outperform competing technologies across many measures. The patented coating is widely used around the world in aggressive wear or chemical environments primarily in the oil and gas, valve, pump and aerospace industries. The company has manufacturing plants in Bicester, Oxfordshire and Houston, Texas.
