Instead of publishing fashion trends and fashion colors separately twice a year, the leather department at BASF is now presenting its trendsetting leather and fashion colors in a single brochure entitled “Inspirations for Leather”. Produced for the special requirements of the European market.
Under the motto “Edition Toscana” the brochure features an assortment of modern textures, exquisite colors and excellent design. Warm brown and green shades are dominant, and metallic lustre effects give them a fresh, exclusive appearance. Rich, deep brown, green and black shades ranging from luxurious through to mysterious are also featured. Soft orange and ochre shades are combined in new ways to create eye-catching effects. Futuristic gold tones add to the cool techno look for evening wear. The complete procedure for manufacturing each type of leather appears in a separate booklet.
“All of our technicians in Europe who specialize in fashion were involved in creating new leather for this brochure”, said Gerhard Wolf, head of technical service for leather at BASF in Europe, who coordinated the design process. Manuel Vila, fashion expert at BASF Curtex, Spain, is convinced by this new approach: “The greatest challenge facing our customers is to be able to manufacture leather that is at the forefront of fashion and that is also economical to produce. In this brochure, we have demonstrated how new trends can be created by effectively upgrading the raw stock”.
All of the leather presented here is intended to inspire tanners. It is very versatile and can be adapted to serve as shoe upper leather, bag leather and garment leather.
