The new snap-in aluminum electrolytic capacitors of the B43305 and B43508 series from EPCOS offer converter solutions with significant space saving ability. The components feature the same electrical properties as earlier types, but are smaller by up to two case classes. That corresponds to a height reduction of 5 and 10 mm. In this way the components enable the design of even smaller power supplies and frequency converters. The further miniaturization was achieved by the use of new materials, an improved capacitor winding design and an optimized concept for the mechanical construction.
The B43305 series covers the capacitance range from 68 to 3300 μF and is available for voltages of between 200 and 450 V. It has an operating life of 2000 hours at a temperature of 85 °C. The product’s dimensions of between 22 x 25 mm (diameter x height) and 35 x 55 mm mean EPCOS ranks among the best-in-class manufacturers.
The B43508 series covers the capacitance range from 82 μF to 2700 μF at voltages of between 200 and 450 V. The product is designed for use at temperatures of 105 °C and then attains an operating life of 3000 hours. The 1000 μF / 400 V type stands out in the 22 x 25 mm to 35 x 55 mm range and can be regarded as a benchmark in this class.
