Three companies have won honors in the DuPont Plunkett Awards competition for innovation with DuPont Fluoropolymers in the Americas region. Representatives from W.L. Gore & Associates Inc., Perma Pure LLC, and Madico recently were recognized at a ceremony in Orlando, Fla.
The Plunkett Awards, named after DuPont scientist Dr. Roy J. Plunkett, the inventor of DuPont™ Teflon® PTFE fluoropolymer resin, recognize new or improved products or applications using DuPont fluoropolymer resins, films, and finishes.
The winning products include GORE™ OMNIBEND™ fiber, which extends the life of high strength synthetic fiber ropes; FC™ Series fuel cell humidifiers, an enabling technology for fuel cells from Perma Pure; and Madico's TPE Bright White and TPE HD Bright White backsheet laminate materials for photovoltaic solar modules.
"The winners of this year's Plunkett Awards demonstrate the valuable contributions of DuPont fluoropolymers in innovations that make a difference in people's lives by reducing costs or improving performance," said Drew Weber, global business director for DuPont FluoroPolymer Solutions. "This marks the 10th year we've celebrated the DuPont Plunkett Awards, and we're very pleased to recognize these fine companies for their achievements."
DuPont Plunkett Award entries are judged by a panel of independent experts not associated with DuPont, who represent academia, the plastics industry, industry associations or the industry trade press. First place winners will receive USD 5,000, second place winners USD 3,000 and third place winners USD 1,500.
