American Fiber Systems (AFS), a leading provider of private optical networks, announced today the successful completion of its fiber optic metro network expansion in the Salt Lake City area.
Concentrated in West Jordan, one of the fastest growing cities in Utah, the expansion will connect the existing AFS fiber optical network to a major wireless provider in the area. This newly constructed ring offers over 500 fiber miles of high-capacity, high-bandwidth metropolitan fiber to enterprise and carrier customers
AFS designed these new routes to be completely diverse from all other telecom providers in order to ensure that customers achieve true redundancy and the highest level of reliability. Connected to area data centers and rapidly growing commercial districts such as Jordan Landing, AFS is upgrading the network options currently available in this location.
"We're raising the bar for other bandwidth providers in the area," said Mike D'Angelo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at AFS. "I believe every business in the Salt Lake City/West Jordan area that uses more than 10mb of bandwidth today will appreciate having a new, easy-to-do-business-with vendor to consider for highly reliable data connections."
From its inception, AFS has focused on bringing connectivity to cities that were under-served by other network companies. This new build is the only dark fiber network available in the West Jordan/Salt Lake City area, giving businesses a strong, private alternative to the local exchange carrier.
In addition to the Salt Lake City fiber optical network, AFS has dramatically increased the coverage and capacity of its metro networks by strategically investing in network expansion and improvements in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Nashville, Cleveland and Atlanta markets.
