REPLASTEC, S.L. is to aim at the recovery of technical-use plastics from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) as well as End of Life Vehicles (ELVs), in such a manner that the materials recovered have a quality suitable to be used in start-up applications or in other, high value-added ones, at a market price and that can guarantee the volumes and qualities demanded by the manufacturers.
The manufacturers of plant and of electrical and electronic components and those of vehicles and their components demand quality and quantity requirements that are difficult to meet by recycling enterprises when these companies are treated on an individual basis. This is why certain lines of plastics do not have a guaranteed niche in the market and a situation is created whereby there are waste products with poor recovery value.
In this context, four important companies: INDUMETAL RECYCLING, Corporación CROMODURO, MAIER and GAIKER, have decided to launch a project known as REPLASTEC, S.L. which will enable the recovery of a highly significant amount of plastics which currently have little or no recovery value and are treated, at times, as final waste products.
INDUMETAL RECYCLING is to work with REPLASTEC to guarantee the supply, the quality and the homogeneity of recycled plastics in order to ensure the viability of the new enterprise’s activity. INDUMETAL RECYCLING will be responsible for the task of recovery of the plastics materials from WEEEs and ELVs, for their identification and classification and for their treatment (removing, for example, metal waste).
The plastics are classified as a function of the future applications to which they may be put in the process of their re-incorporation into the market as raw material.
At the current stage, REPLASTEC is studying the where to locate the industrial activity of the business, preparing itself to start receiving material, acquiring the necessary machinery for processing the plastic waste and establishing, using laboratory testing, the most appropriate product mixes depending on their future industrial use. Research into the materials, qualities and standardisation and processes will be carried out by GAIKER with the help of their enterprise associates.
