Introduction

UNS C17500 copper-cobalt-beryllium alloys comprise moderate strength and about 50% IACS conductivity. These alloys are available in mill hardened tempers and heat treatable and ductile tempers.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Cold Working

UNS C17500 alloys have excellent cold working capacity.

Welding

UNS C17500 alloys are suitable for butt welding, seam welding, brazing, soldering, coated metal arc welding, spot welding and gas shielded arc welding processes. Oxyacetylene welding is not recommended for these alloys.

Forging

Temperatures between 649and 885°C (1200 and 1625°F) are recommended for hot working of UNS C17500 alloys.

Hot Working

UNS C17500 alloys have good hot forming capacity.
