First Trade for Hot-Rolled Coil Steel Options Listed on the CME Derivatives Marketplace Cleared

The U.S. Midwest Domestic Hot-Rolled Coil (HRC) Steel Index options listed in the CME Group’s derivatives marketplace recorded its first trade comprising 1000 contracts or the equivalent of 20,000 short tons of HRC.

Utility Trailer Incorporates High Strength Steel Options in Their 4000D-X Dry Van

Utility Trailer Manufacturing, the oldest trailer manufacturing company in America, has incorporated two new high strength steel options for the company’s 4000D-X Composite dry freight van. The high strength steel is used for the side panels of the DX-100. The first steel option is a substitute for the 0.040 inch thick aluminum side skin used routinely.

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe has started the new apprentice training year on September 3, 2012. As of September 1, 2012, the company is hiring 315 new apprentices for 20 different jobs, bringing its total own apprentice count to approximately 1,140.

Carpenter Technology to Relocate Specialty Wire Production Facility to Wauseon, Ohio

Wyomissing-based Carpenter Technology that manufactures and supplies specialty alloys comprising stainless steel alloys, super alloys and titanium alloys, is set to shift the manufacturing operations at its Carpenter Specialty Wire Products (CSWP) facility at Orangeburg in South Carolina to Wauseon in Ohio, which houses a sophisticated precision wire production facility.

Middle East Dredging to Procure Spiral Seam Steel Pipes from Sutor Technology Group

Sutor Technology Group, a major Chinese non-state-owned producer and supplier of welded steel pipes and fine finished steel products for use in a wide range of downstream applications, has reported that Middle East Dredging Company (MEDCO) has inked a supply agreement to procure 12,000 metric tons of spiral seam steel pipes from Sutor.

Ricoh Introduces Sustainable Office Multifunction Products with Recycled Steel

Ricoh Americas has launched the Ricoh MP 6002/ MP 7502/ MP 9002 series of office multifunction products (MFPs). These products feature printing, scanning, copying, faxing and distribution facilities with speeds of 60, 75 and 90 pages/min. Further, a new type of eco-friendly steel has been used in these imaging products.
