International Syalons to Increase Sialon Sintering Capacity

International Syalons (Newcastle) Limited have placed an order for a new large sintering furnace for sintering sialon ceramics. International Syalons are the UK’s leading manufacturer of sialon and silicon nitride ceramics, with over 30 years experience in the production and manufacture of advanced ceramics.

The new furnace, supplied by Vacuum Furnace Engineers (VFE), will allow International Syalons to manufacture parts up to 2m in length. This is particularly useful for example, for thermocouple protection sheaths for the non-ferrous molten metal handling industry, where the current maximum length is 1.5m. Parts with a diameter of up to 600mm will also be possible.

The new furnace will significantly extend International Syalons sintering capacity. The furnace will have a maximum temperature capability of 1850°C and have a state of the art control system.

The furnace is scheduled for installation in March 2008.
