ALD Vacuum Technologies and Daido Steel Close Licensing Agreement

ALD Vacuum Technologies AG, Germany, and Daido Steel Co. Ltd., Japan, closed a license agreement for vacuum carburizing plants ‘made in Japan’ on the Japanese market.

This agreement allows Daido as a leading manufacturer of special steel worldwide in future to manufacture the heat treatment system ModulTherm® and bring it to the Japanese market, beside the purveyance of steel.

The furnace system ModulTherm® combines various distinguishing advantages which meet the specific demands of modern heat treatment particularly. According to production capacity, the system can easily be expanded to meet the required dimension. Due to the modular design maintenance works can be carried out without disconnecting the entire plant, merely the respective module is to be cut off. The remaining treatment chambers continue production at full capacity. Furthermore, due to operation with separate modules even parallel processes are possible.

Compared to the conventional gas carburizing technology with atmospheric pressure, the vacuum carburizing technology instantly affects quality, production flow as well as safety since no toxic gases or flame curtains are necessary any more and the surface of vacuum carburized products is free of oxidation. In addition, the vacuum carburizing process can easily be controlled and is a simply measurable procedure in accordance with quality management.
