Ashland Composite Polymers Release a New Line of Resins for Vacuum Infusion Processing

Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc., has announced a new line of polyester and vinyl ester resins formulated specifically for the vacuum infusion process.

In a continuing effort to develop new solutions to meet changing market demands, Ashland has developed a line of resins that offers tailored cure times to meet a customer's needs. The resins produce a more structurally sound composite part in a "worker-friendly" environment with less resin waste.

"We're pleased to offer a new infusion line of resins that meets the environmental concerns and production needs of today's demanding marketplace," said Dwight Rust, business development manager, Ashland Composite Polymers. "The high performance properties of our resins combined with the vacuum infusion process will provide dependable reactivity, excellent flow and rapid infusion."

Vacuum infusion molding is enjoying resurgence because of a continuing focus on reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) in the composites industry.
