International Event to Address Ways to Boost Scrap Metal Exports and Imports Worldwide

The 2008 global financial recession was a heavy blow to the recycling metal industry, which has been boosted through a series of stimulus policies in 2009.

Two favorable influences, the recovering global economy and the increasing demand for steel, copper and aluminum plants, will fuel the metal scrap industry in the spring of 2010. With a theme of "Boost Ferrous and Non-ferrous Scrap Metal Exports and Imports Around the World," the International Scrap Metal Network 2010 will be held by CBI China July 1st-2nd.

The Chinese government is paying attention to the environment while developing the economy. People are encouraged to live in a more energy-saving and low-carbon way, through the citing of the concept of "green consumption." Just as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said: "Energetically develop the recycling economy. Accelerate the comprehensive utilization and recycling of resources from resources exploitation, production, and recycling to social consumption. Actively develop new energy and alternative energy sources."

The event will address the following questions:

  • What purchasing strategies will be utilized by giant producers?
  • How will Europe's advanced sustainable and environmental protection methodologies be echoed in emerging economies like China and India?
  • What can be learned from burgeoning recycling markets of the Middle East and other Asian countries?
  • What challenges and opportunities are here in recycling electronics scrap?
  • What solutions will there be for financing selection and pricing risk control?
  • What are the highlights of China's environmental protection law and scrap metal import regulations?

Jointly with People's Government of Qingyuan, Guangdong province and the Shanghai Metals Market, the 2010 International Scrap Metal Network is set to create a platform for global metal scrap suppliers and purchasers, with the attendance of the most authoritative experts to provide in-depth analysis of supply and demand in the import & export markets in China and abroad.
