Safetek International, Inc. (Pink Sheets: SFIN) announced today that its subsidiary, Newave Packaging, Inc., has commenced marketing its new environmentally friendly ewrap™ food wrap film for meat, poultry, produce and frozen foods. Management hopes to position the company as a leading supplier of 'green' packaging products to the food packaging industry.
Food Wrap Cling Film Polyethylene (PE), the base material used in the manufacture of ewrap™ is a simple structure polymer that is believed to place less Eco-strain on the environment than other materials. In testing, PE disintegrated in a given time period and, when annihilated, burned down to hydrogen & carbon without residual polluting side effects. Management believes PE is slowly replacing conventional PVC films because PVC contains toxic plasticizers (such as phthalates), stabilizers containing dangerous heavy metals (such as lead), fungicides and other toxic substances.
Advantages of ewrap™ over conventional PVC cling film, based on Company testing, include:
- Harmless. 100% non-toxic
- Eco-Friendly. 100% recyclable
- Conforms to food contact regulations
- More economical than PVC, lower density of LLDPE than PVC
- 30% less material used in manufacturing PE than PVC
- Engineered to last as long as required
Commenting on the ewrap™ products, Stefan Gudmundsson, CEO of Newave Packaging, Inc., said: "All our plastic bags, films and sheets are non-PVC based and 100% recyclable, and have the potential to be made 100% degradable with the addition of degradable plastic additives. These products could ultimately degrade in a landfill environment. Based on testing, once the process is complete, carbon dioxide, water and biomass will remain, leaving only non-toxic by-products."
Shmuel Shneibalg, President of Safetek Packaging, Inc., commented that "the Company is working towards compliance with the US Administrations' requirement for the industry to be PVC-free. Management believes this could help drive us toward the forefront of 'green' revolution. I am very excited by the response from potential customers and this bodes well for our growth plans."
