Noliac has developed a small sample processing capability for multilayer piezoelectric actuators. This capability is a one of it's kind and offers development partners a unique chance for extending the test to include samples which are tailored for industrial purposes.
In recent years there has been a significant interest in new piezoelectric materials e.g. lead free piezoelectric materials or piezoelectric materials for high temperature applications.

Numerous research institutions worldwide perform research in such materials, but very few materials are tested in commercial configurations as multilayer actuators.
Lead free and high temperature as a start
As multilayer actuators are manufactured on industrial equipment for volume production, a technological gap emerges.
In order to close the gap between laboratory quantities of materials and industrial scale production of actuators, Noliac has developed a small sample processing capability for multilayer actuators.
This facility has successfully been in use for the fabrication of piezo multilayer stack actuators based on lead free ceramic manufactured by Technical University of Darmstadt and a high temperature, low lead content piezoelectric ceramic manufactured by University of Leeds.
