Propex's Ready-Mix Concrete Industry Survey Reveals Importance of Fibers in Concrete Reinforcement

Tennessee-based Propex Operating Company today announced the completion of a ready-mix industry survey on the benefits of using synthetic fibers in concrete construction.

The anonymous and completely confidential survey targeted more than 5,000 concrete producers in the U.S. and was conducted over a six-week period on the Propex Concrete Solutions website at Fibermesh.com. The survey was completed by 1,300 respondents, which is a very high percentage rate of response.

"We are very pleased and encouraged by the overwhelming response to this survey," said Jonathan Speaks, director of sales for Propex's Concrete Solutions Group. "It tells us that the importance of fibers in concrete reinforcement is a topic that resonates with the ready-mix industry," he said. "We plan to use the information to develop and enhance our product lines and services to customers."

As an added incentive to engage survey respondents, Propex entered all who completed the survey into a random prize drawing for an Apple iPad. The winner was Jason Reffner of Newcrete Products, who was presented with his new iPad by Speaks and Bob McCulley, mid-Atlantic territory rep for Concrete Solutions.

Propex developed the survey to gain a deeper understanding of the voice of the ready-mix market and how to best help them achieve their goals. Through the survey, Propex clearly identified the ready-mix industry as their key constituency and determined their immediate and long-term needs. Among their concerns, the respondents specifically mentioned that avoiding liability is a key issue. And, it was found that they are more optimistic than most that the market is going to improve. "This is the kind of valuable information that will help us maximize service to our ready-mix customers at all levels," added Speaks.
