New Patent Covers Methods to Use NaturalNano's Halloysite Natural Tubes in Polymers

NaturalNano, Inc. (OTCBB:NNAN) (Frankfurt:N3N) announced today the issuance of a US patent covering methods for optimizing the processes used to incorporate NaturalNano's Halloysite Natural Tubes (HNTs) in polymers.

US Patent 7,888,914 covers the methods NaturalNano developed to optimize HNT performance over a wide array of plastic manufacturing processes.

Acting CEO James Wemett said, "The timing of the issued patent corresponds with our efforts to further strengthen our position in the growing engineered-polymer industry. We are very pleased with the breadth of claims that have been allowed."

Use of HNTs in traditional plastics manufacturing processes requires specialized treatment of the raw materials and use of surface-treatment chemistry to further improve physical properties. NaturalNano has developed a two-stage "master batch" process for the incorporation of HNTs that provides more uniform mixing and distribution. This in turn increases performance of components, adhesives, and other coatings manufactured under this process.

Mr. Wemett further commented, "We are working directly with major plastic component companies and are exploring the licensing of our technology to the up-stream polymer suppliers as well."
