Dr. Martin Stimpson, Eastman Chemical Company, will be presenting the paper Formulating non-phthalate plasticizers for specialty plastisol applications at 9:40 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 17, during Session 4 – Plasticizers during the PVC Formulation Conference at the Maritim Hotel, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Stimpson’s presentation will focus on recent regulatory legislation, including REACH, impacting the use of ortho-phthalate plasticizers. Such regulations have resulted in the needs of formulators to investigate the use of alternative non-phthalate plasticizers for a wide variety of applications. Specifically, Stimpson’s presentation will examine the formulation of plastisols using terephthalates (non-phthalates), benzoate plasticizers, and blends of the two. He will also be discussing processing parameters and expected final performance properties as well as anticipated future regulatory trends in the industry.
