UAE-based ceramic tile producer, RAK Ceramics has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat government to build a modern ceramic tile production facility in Gujarat, India.
The strategic investment of Rs 500 crores will strengthen RAK Ceramics footprint in the North-West market of the country. The new production facility will manufacture a broad range of tile products. The company will decrease its freight outward expenditure through this investment and could become one of the prominent ceramic tile producers in the west.
RAK Ceramics is currently producing nearly 12,000 sanitary ware units and approximately 360,000 m2 of vitrified and ceramic tiles every day. The first stage of production will begin in the Q1 of 2012. The company intends to export its ceramic tiles from the Gujarat plant in future and will explore associated investments in other fields.
The Chief Executive Officer of RAK Ceramics India, Sudhir Malesha stated that the company plans to invest the amount over a five-year period. The company has found out a site spanning 50 to 70 acres at Himmatnagar in Mehsana district. This proposal would create more jobs in the state.
