Uniscan Instruments Unveils Shallow µTriCell for M370 Scanning Electrochemical Workstation

Provider of corrosion metrology and electrochemistry devices, Uniscan Instruments has launched the Shallow µTriCell for the Scanning Electrochemical Workstation, M370, which is used in a number of applications such as monitoring of fuel cell materials, production of electrochemical sensors and corrosion monitoring.

The SECM method may need the surface topology of a sample. In the constant-height area scan, the probe is placed at a permanent vertical position over the sample, and thus is not suitable for samples having non-flat surfaces. To tackle this problem, Uniscan has devised a constant-distance related method where the probe can trace the sample’s surface topology. By coupling the Scanning Electrochemical Microscope (SECM370) with the Optical-Surface Profiling (OSP370) technology, end users can record the surface properties and release the position of the SECM probe during monitoring.

The OSP-SECM topographical relief functionality has expanded the scope of electrochemical cell choices to conduct these kinds of tests with an optional sample holder that provides better optical access to the surface of the sample. The cell has a quartz window that monitors the position of the probe with the VCAM2 zoom-lens video microscope system.
