LDK Solar Establishes New Solar Cell Production Plant in China

LDK Solar, a vertically integrated producer of photovoltaic products and multicrystalline solar wafers, proclaimed that it has established one more solar cell production facility in Hefei City, Anhui Province, China.

With this new facility, LDK Solar has now expanded its total solar cell production capacity to 570 MW per year.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at LDK Solar, Xiaofeng Peng stated that the company is happy about the expansion of solar cell capacity. LDK Solar expects that the capacity expansion will improve its vertical integration strategy and will considerably reduce the module production expenditures starting from the Q2 of 2011, Peng said.

Peng also expressed his gratitude to Anhui Province and Hefei City officials who played a major role in the scheduling and building of the new solar cell facility. He said that the company has recruited 2,014 workers in Hefei for the new facility.
