Air Products Inks R+D Deal with Tianjin University to Accelerate Air Separation Innovation

Global supplier of performance materials and industrial gases, Air Products proclaimed that it has commenced its third collaborative research project on sophisticated chemical engineering sciences with the Tianjin University’s State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering in China.

The latest research project will concentrate on modeling and distillation of chemical methods in engineering design technology that will be used for hydrocarbon procedures and air separation in order to speed up the process development for the gas market. Air Products had formed a long-term research and development collaboration with Tianjin University in 2005. Since then, the two organizations have inked three collaborative R&D deals on sophisticated chemical engineering sciences.

As per the terms of the deals, Air Products funds the university’s research and development projects by employing several students with master’s degrees and Ph.D. Moreover, Air Products has launched a scholarship program for students pursuing chemical engineering at the Tianjin University. In 2005, Air Products had also established a research facility in China called Asia Technology Center that serves important growth industries, including general industries, electronics and performance materials, in China and other regions of Asia.

The Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Air Products, Monty Alger commented that the company has been working with major Chinese universities to gear up the commercialization of advanced technologies.
