LDK Solar, manufacturer of photovoltaic products and multicrystalline ingots, wafers, modules and cells, has made an investment worth nearly $40 million on new wafer manufacturing facility in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China.
The investment will help the company to capture a position in the growing LED industry. The new plant will be established to produce and deliver two million numbers of sapphire wafers annually.
LDK Solar’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Xiaofeng Peng said that the company is happy about the expansion of its wafer production capacity. LDK Solar believes that the new business investment in sapphire wafer production will go well with the its expertise in manufacturing, wafer engineering and crystallization and will improve its product offerings to customers.
Peng also expressed his gratitude for the support received from Jiangxi Province and Nanchang City during the construction of the company’s wafer and module manufacturing facilities over the last two years.
