SolarPA Enhances Solar Cell Efficiency Using Nanocrystal Coating

SolarPA has achieved a breakthrough record with 11.5% efficiency increase of solar cells using nanocrystal coating. The average 15.4% efficiency solar cells are converted into cells with 17.2% efficiency.

At present, SolarPA is analyzing various technologies such as screen printing and dip coating to apply NanoCoat at the production line. The NanoCoat application does not disturb production line and coating is done only after the solar cell is completely produced.

SolarPA’s technology can benefit solar cell manufacturers in the U.S and Europe to compete against less expensive Chinese products. The company expects that the solar cell installation rate will rise from 14 GW in 2010 to 20 GW in 2011.

Over 50% of the solar cells available worldwide is made by Chinese solar cell manufacturers. The world’s leading solar panel producers are also from China. Hence, solar manufacturers continuously struggle to reduce production costs and improve cell efficiency.
