SET Enterprises announced that it has planned to construct a new steel processing facility in Jackson, Alabama.
The new center will have a capacity to process 360,000 tons of material to support the production of steel at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA based in Calvert, Alabama. The facility will also support the development of other steel producers and manufacturers in the Southeast U.S.
The first phase of the project will require approximately $12 million investment for equipment and construction. Initial operations will include two slitting lines. One line will be equipped to process heavy gauge material of size up to 0.500". The operation is expected to commence early in 2012.
The second phase of SET’s steel processing center project will include expansion of the facility; enhancement of the processing capacity as well as service offerings and workforce expansion.
The facility will provide easy access to ThyssenKrupp's Calvert site and also to areas across Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and the remaining Southeast U.S.
SET’s project has received significant support from the City of Jackson, Mayor Richard Long, Cooper Bros. Construction, the Clarke County Economic Development Partnership, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, the State of Alabama Development Office and the company’s business partners at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA.
