GT Solar has achieved a major milestone with the shipment of 3000th DSS ingot growth furnace. The company has delivered the DSS450HP multicrystalline system to Gigastorage, a Taiwan-based company.
The system will be installed in Gigastorage’s multicrystalline wafer manufacturing plant located in Hsinchu.
According to Tom Gutierrez, CEO and president of GT Solar, this recent delivery is a recognition for DSS architecture’s durability and reliability that continues to provide value to its customers.
The first DSS crystallization ingot growth system, DSS240 was launched in 2003. With the use of the DSS architecture, customers can easily enhance their furnaces for higher levels of productivity and performance. GT Solar has unveiled the DSS650 ingot growth furnace in January 2011, which lowers the manufacturing costs and offers greater levels of efficiency and throughput. The DSS240 furnace has a capacity to produce 240 kg of multicrystalline ingots. GT Solar provides an option to upgrade the DSS240 to DSS650 performance level and the resulting system can produce more than 625 kg of ingots.
