Solar Panel Facade Converts Sun Rays into Energy

A photovoltaic device, developed by Ruukki, has been combined into a facade in order to change sun rays into energy source.

Solar Panel Facade

The solar power device depends only on its radiation and not on the warmth of the sun. It is suitable for buildings that comply with stringent environmental regulations. The device is suitable for manufacturing a fully-glazed façade that produces energy from the sun. It allows power to be generated in regions that have no direct sun rays. The solar power system enhances output from reflected rays in snowy regions.

The solar panel facade is suitable for both office and residential constructions. It does not restrict the choice of type of building or choice of base materials and can be deployed on newly built and renovated constructions. The solar panels are manufactured using glazed photovoltaic modules and the company’s steel rainscreen panel component. They are based on a Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide thin-film technology, which is commonly utilized in solar cells.

Ruukki’s Senior Vice-President of Buildings Components, Jouni Metsamaki stated that the solar panel façade generates energy from renewable energy sources. The capacity and output of the solar panel façade can be enhanced according to the availability of the area.
