Leclanché and Schüco International have announced a partership deal to offer energy storage solutions for solar power. The new energy storage solution can be linked directly to solar panels to conserve the produced power in high capacity lithium-ion batteries of Leclanché.
Schüco International offers plastic, steel, solar and aluminum systems for advanced building structures, while Leclanché produces high-capacity lithium-ion cells. The energy storage system’s model design features a power and control unit particularly designed for Schüco and global lithium-ion energy storage modules.
The core part of the energy storage system is the high capacity, durable lithium-ion batteries manufactured in Leclanché’s facility in Willstätt, Germany. Based on the capacity requirement, single energy storage modules can be orderly piled as needed. A controller is used to control the battery unit and its performance. The unit can also be linked to other energy conserving systems through an optional Internet access.
Schüco International and Leclanché expect that the partnership marks the beginning for a long-term collaboration. Both companies have decided not to reveal the details about the partnership. The energy storage system will be displayed at Intersolar on the Schüco exhibition stand from 8 to 10 June, 2011.
The Chief Executive Officer at Leclanché, Ulrich Ehmes commented that the deal, which will utilize one-fourth of Leclanché’s manufacturing line capacity in 2012, is an important event in the company’s business development.
