Momentive Performance Materials Showcases Addisil UV 60 EX Elastomer at MD+M East 2011

Momentive Performance Materials demonstrated its latest advancements in UV fast cure silicone technology at MD&M East tradeshow.

The company displayed the Addisil UV 60 EX elastomer, which is ideal for medical applications. The elastomer can be cured by exposing it to UV light. The Addisil UV 60 EX is suitable for healthcare applications, which require the physical properties of silicone rubber as well as reduced temperature during the production process.

The Addisil technology helps medical device manufacturers to use a wide range of ingredients in areas where heat-sensitive materials are integrated with silicone rubber parts. Other benefits of the Addisil elastomer include major cost savings, shorter cure times, decreased air entrapment and less shrinkage. The material can be used with standard UV light curing systems and silicone extrusion equipment.

Momentive Performance Materials manufactures Addisil silicones at its custom compounding center located in Lostock, UK. The company has made investment to upgrade its UK center to meet customers’ requirements in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. The upgrade includes the addition of a dedicated medical and pharmaceutical processing area, which manufactures Addisil elastomers for medical applications. The new dedicated area protects the quality of the materials and cuts down the turnaround times for orders.
