Schuff International, an integrated steel company, has established a new steel fabrication joint venture in Panama City with Empresas Hopsa, one of the leading construction companies in Panama.
The joint venture will offer steel fabrication as well as erection services across South and Central America.
The new entity called Schuff Hopsa Engineering will own and control a steel fabrication facility in Chilibre, Panama. The Chilibre plant has been opened by Empresas Hopsa in 2009 to address the rising demand for steel construction services. Empresas Hopsa has been looking for a right partner to expand its business and identified Schuff as a suitable match.
Schuff Steel, a unit of Schuff International, is now offering steel and consulting services to a 26-story high-rise structure, which is the second major Panamanian steel project for the company. Hopsa's Chilibre facility and the US-based plants of Schuff Steel have provided steel fabrication services to these commercial office buildings.
Schuff has already strengthened its position in Latin America by completing a number of projects. As South and Central American markets continue to grow, Schuff will have opportunity to reveal the advantages of steel through design-assist method.
