GT Solar, a global supplier of polysilicon production technology, PV manufacturing equipment, silicon and sapphire crystalline growth systems and materials for the LED and solar markets, has received new orders valued at $81.7 million for its polysilicon production equipment.
The order, placed by two new Asian customers, includes hydrochlorination equipment for TCS production.
The polysilicon production equipment, provided by GT Solar, includes energy efficient and productive CVD reactors. The company also provides filament, product processing equipment and hydrochlorination technology. The technology and products allow GT Solar to provide an end-to-end, low-cost and complete production solution.
The Vice President and General Manager of the polysilicon technology business unit of GT Solar, Dave Keck expressed his pleasure at the addition of two new customers to the company’s increasing family of polysilicon producers. He added that producers of polysilicon products had to operate their plants with high efficiency and productivity to maintain their profitability, due to constant reduction in polysilicon prices.
Keck went on to add that GT Solar’s equipment and technology for polysilicon production would enable customers to achieve high purity silicon production at a comparatively low cost.
