A supplier of reusable plastic packaging systems, Buckhorn declared that it has purchased intellectual property and tooling assets from Material Improvements for a reusable plastic container utilized in the production, shipment, processing and storage of bulk natural cheese.
Conditions of the acquisition were not revealed. The new plastic 640 container has a capacity of 710 lbs and dimensions of 24” x 30” x 37”. It is an ideal replacement for wooden boxes, which can break and contaminate the cheese during material handling. It enhances quality and sanitation and decreases wastage.
Buckhorn’s new container decreases cooling down to 40 ° within a week, which in turn decreases the necessities for cold storage and manufactures more uniform cheese from the core to the exterior surface. The USDA approved container complies with the 3A Sanitary Standards of the dairy industry. It has more advantages than wooden boxes that offer customers with quicker cycle times.
The 640 container need not be refurbished between applications and can be easily cleaned by industrial washing. Its plastic resin offers resistance against deterioration due to lactic acid, washes, sanitizers and temperature, while its polished, smooth surface facilitates cleaning. It’s stacked stainless steel leaf springs, which can be added rapidly during assembly, offers direct lid compression and eliminates the time-consuming process with untwisting coil springs.
The plastic container can be utilized for industry production methods such as packaging, weighing, inverters, vacuum chambers, automation and dolly and forklift transport. It can also be stackable and exchangeable with plywood boxes.
