O-I to Close Plant in Sullivan, Indiana

O-I today announced that the Company intends to close its plastic container manufacturing facility in Sullivan, Ind. Production will be phased out beginning the first week of May through the end of the third quarter. The plant currently employs 63 people.

The approximately 63,000 square foot facility located at 110 Industrial Park Drive manufactures plastic bottles for the health care industry.

Vincent Sarni, vice president of manufacturing for O-I HealthCare Packaging, said, "We sincerely regret having to make this decision. However, following the recent sale of our blow-molded plastic container business, we have concluded that we can consolidate operations and transfer capacity to our other facilities without compromising service to our customers."

The Company will work with the local GMP union No. 66 and with government agencies to help employees search for new jobs and in dealing with other employment-related issues.

After the closing of this facility, O-I will have 15 plastics manufacturing plants in the United States and Puerto Rico, in addition to three other facilities in Hungary, Brazil and Singapore.

The Sullivan plant began production in 1980 as part of the Dougherty Brothers Company and was acquired by O-I in 1985.
