AGIS, a manufacturer and distributor of high temperature sealing products, is offering a broader line of synthetic and natural fiber mechanical packing products for use in harsh environments.
Synthetic fiber packing products are braided, braided Kevlar-type of aramid filament yarn and Teflon fibers. The braided product includes individual fibers laminated with molybdenum and yarn coated with molybdenum to enhance lubrication at high temperatures. Typical applications are rotary, reciprocating and centrifugal pumps. Braided Kevlar-type synthetic fiber mechanical packing product has individual strands lubricated with inert oil and Teflon. Rotary and reciprocating shafts use the product. Teflon fibers that are treated with a unique graphite compound and coated with break-in oil have application in agitators and paper mill stock pumps.
Natural fiber mechanical packing products are plied or cross-laminated white cotton duck, square plait braided flax infused with Teflon and break-in lubricant and square plait braided flax lubricated with tallow and wax. Plied packing products are coated with heat-resistant rubber to enhance durability and tensile strength. These products are ideal for heavy hydraulic service. They are cured at 300°F at 250°F temperature and 500 psi pressure. Teflon-coated square plait braided flax is used for rotary and reciprocating plungers, shafts and rams. The service conditions of this product are 220°F temperature, 1900 FPM shaft speed and pH range of 5 to 9. Square plait braided flax has applications in rotary, reciprocating and centrifugal shafts.
