Materials Performance (MP), which is a magazine published by NACE International, The Corrosion Society has announced that it will present the first Reader’s Choice Award to inventions, which are most effective in controlling corrosion.
Magazine readers will vote online for the top 10 innovations in corrosion control for the year 2012. The innovations of the winners will be exhibited at the national conference of NACE International to be held at Salt Lake City, Utah and in the magazine.
Government agencies, individuals and companies can enter to compete for the award. However, the entries should have made substantial technological contributions to the existing techniques, products and services. Examples of such contributions would be progress in the selection of materials, assessment of integrity, cathodic protection, coating and lining, instrumentation, testing and instrumentation. Participants are required to submit their nominations by November, 18, 2011 in accordance with the guidelines, which will be provided in the company’s website.
Corrosion of buildings, infrastructure, equipment and monuments is a problem that is being faced by all industries. The MP Reader’s Choice Corrosion Innovation Award strives to recognise the contributions of scientists, engineers, chemists and other researchers in controlling corrosion and protecting assets, people and the environment in general.
