H.B. Fuller, a global adhesives provider, announced that it is launching the Flextra Fast SFA 8600 / XR 1500, a next generation laminating adhesive at 2011 PACK EXPO.
The company will showcase new laminating adhesives that help to meet the sustainable packaging needs and also to address the promising industry challenges like fast curing flexible packaging.
Flextra Fast SFA 8600 / XR 1500 solventless laminating adhesive is one of the industry’s fastest curing products. The material offers outstanding appearance and adhesion over several substrates, including nylon, foil, high slip sealants and others. Flextra Fast SFA 8600 / XR 1500 adhesive is developed for high performance applications ranging from snack pouches to complex boil-in-bags.
The adhesive allows packaging converters to coat as fast as 1,700 ft per minute and to deliver peroxyacetic acid (PAA) decay within one day period. The next generation Flextra Fast laminating system can be safely filled and shipped with food or finished goods in a shorter time. It can also be slit in less than three hours.
H.B. Fuller has developed the new laminating adhesive using the more rigid high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. Flextra Fast SFA 8600 / XR 1500 formulation can be tested on the Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 laminator that is installed at H.B. Fuller's pilot plant in St. Paul, Minnesota.
