Cytec Industries has reported that the Vice President of Aerospace and Engineered Materials, Chris Pederson, will deliver the key-note address at the sixth international conference,“Supply on the Wings” to be held from November 2 to 4, 2011 at the Exhibition Centre in Germany, along with the AIRTEC International Aerospace Supply Fair. The subject for the conference will be "Aerospace – The Global Innovation Driver”.
Cytec’s VP will present about “Advances in Composites Technology” and will specify the increasing usage of composites in the aerospace industry right from early military aircraft having composite content of below 10% to advanced profitable designs having more than 50% composite. The speech will cover major technologies that are required to additionally promote usage of composites by concentrating on processing and material innovations.
The VP of Technology, Engineered Materials, Carmelo Lo Faro, has stated that when there is an alteration in the usage of composites in the next-generation business aircraft, the risk in manufacturing and application complexity will increase. It is possible that composite parts lie on the manufacturing critical path and have a larger effect on the quality, schedule and the cost of production. Combining all features of the composites value chain in this environment is critical.
The Engineered Materials wing of the company manufactures adhesives, new composite prepregs and resins that are extensively used in the automotive and aerospace industries. The company will use the knowledge of material and processing by using its applications engineering proficiency in order to design solutions that will meet customer requirements.
