Cabot has unveiled a new class of materials called Transfinity elastomer composites. These composites improve the transformational performance in vibration isolation and wear resistance applications. They also increase the elastomers’ durability.
Elastomer latex and reinforcing particles like carbon black are used to produce Transfinity composite products. A patented method is employed to produce stronger elastomer composites.
Transfinity composites can be utilized for manufacturing durable and smaller products for challenging applications in defense, mining, aerospace and automotive industries.
According to Cabot Elastomer Composites’ General Manager, Sameer Bharadwaj, the company has authenticated the transformational performance of the composites in defense and tire applications.
The Transfinity elastomer is capable of broadening the series of tracks and rubber pads on military vehicles. It will permit tanks to travel without service and minimize the necessity for risky in-field service operations. The service life of important parts in helicopters and aircrafts can be enhanced greatly by these Transfinity products.
The composites’ durability allows it to be used for designing lightweight and smaller suspension parts for automotive applications, in order to increase fuel saving and decrease the weight of vehicle.
Bharadwaj added that rising global demand for goods generates stress on mines to increase productivity. Mine operators can enhance the energy efficiency, decrease the downtime and increase incomes and output from current assets by utilizing Transfinity elastomer composites to produce high-durable protecting liners for mineral processing equipment.
