Vishay Intertechnology, one of the world's leading manufacturers of passive electronic components and discrete semiconductors, has expanded Power Metal Strip series with the launch of a new meter shunt resistor.
The WSMS3124 lead (Pb)-free resistor features a 3 W power capacity and has very low resistance values ranging from 100 to 750 µΩ.
Vishay’s new meter shunt resistor includes a proprietary processing method, which is responsible for producing low resistance values. These values make the resistor suitable for consumer and industrial applications like single phase or multi phase energy meters.
The design of Power Metal Strip meter shunt resistor enables insertion of an electron-beam welded shunt within electrical wattmeters. In addition, the material offers extremely low TC features down to 75 ppm/°C. The WSMS3124 resistor is RoHS-compliant and delivers a tolerance of 5%. All these features enable the meter shunt resistor to deliver high electrical performance. It provides a low thermal EMF of below 3 µV/°C and extremely low inductance values below 0.5 nH.
