Resolute Forest Products has introduced its Align portfolio of high-brightness, eco-responsible papers that are ideal replacements for chemical pulp uncoated and coated freesheet used in several commercial printing applications.
Align papers are environmentally responsible as they consume less wood fiber, thus requiring only fewer trees for their production. They are fabricated with wood fiber content as low as 50% and have a lesser environmental impact when compared to conventional offset papers that include recycled content papers. According to Resolute Forest Products’ comparative life cycle assessment, carbon footprint of its Align papers is 35% to 85% less when compared to the average freesheet grade.
Align grade of papers is budget friendly thanks to its increased bulk and opacity at lesser basis weight than conventional freesheet. It helps in reducing postage, paper and logistics costs of its customers based on their requirement. Prices of conventional offset papers that have superior brightness and longevity are very high. However, the Align family offers a variety of high-bulk, opaque and bright papers to its value-conscious customers based on their specific requirements.
Moreover, the portfolio is in line with Resolute Forest Products’ commitment towards the global Climate Savers program of World Wildlife Fund (WWF). According to Gerald Butts, WWF’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Resolute Forest Products is committed to reach a 65% reduction in the emissions of greenhouse gases from its operations by the fiscal year 2015, compared to the levels in 2000. The President and Chief Executive Officer of Resolute Forest Products, Richard Garneau commented that Align papers help customers decrease their fiber consumption and costs without compromising their paper quality.
