Bredero Shaw, ShawCor's largest division and a provider of pipe coating solutions, has signed a US$400 million contract with Mitsui to offer pipeline coatings and associated technologies and services for the Ichthys LNG Project, a joint venture between Total and INPEX.
Based on the contract, ShawCor will provide pipe coating solutions for the 889 km of 42" gas export pipeline of the project. The pipeline is protected with HeviCote, a concrete weight coating, a SureFlo internal coating and an Asphalt Enamel coating.
The Ichthys Field produces gas, which will undergo primary offshore processing to discard water and separate condensate. The pipeline will transport gas from the offshore central processing plant to the onshore LNG facility via a subsea pipeline. The LNG facility is located in Darwin, Northern Australia. The Ichthys project is anticipated to generate 1.6 Mt of LPG and 8.4 Mt of LNG per year, as well as about 100,000 barrels of condensate every day.
ShawCor's pipe coating division has also awarded an order for anode installation and custom coating. The company will start the work in the 3Q of 2012 and the order will be executed at its facilities in Kuantan, Malaysia and Kabil, Indonesia. Both the facilities are full-service coating plants that mainly implements large and sophisticated projects in the Asia Pacific.
