A global high strength steel supplier, SSAB, has won a major order for its Hardox HiTuf, a wear resistant steel plate, from Geha BV. Geha, based in Zaandam, the Netherlands, has specialized in the production of wear parts for the recycling and civil engineering industries.
The total worth of the order is EUR 2.12 million. SSAB’s Hardox HiTuf wear plate has been designed mainly for wear applications, which require tremendous cracking resistance and toughness properties. The plate helps produce lightweight products with higher durability.
Chris Van Beurden, VP of SSAB EMEA’s sales division, stated that the company is delighted to receive this major order, which demonstrates SSAB’s ability to work closely with its customers to enhance their steel products and processes. Chris Van Beurden also added that in addition to exceptional strength and toughness, the wear resistant steel component has the ability to withstand very high strains.
Geha manufactures and supplies steel wear parts for the Allseas Group, a Swiss-based offshore pipeline installation and subsea construction company. Allseas Group will use Hardox HiTuF in rails over which the marine vessels’ hoisting machines will glide.
