JEC Europe 2012, which occupied a surface area of 50,000 m2, witnessed the participation of over 1,181 companies and is probably one of the biggest composite exhibitions worldwide.
The total number of visitors numbered to around 32,256 in comparison with 29,857 visitors last year proving the increasing appeal of this kind of a forum for the growth of the composite industry.
According to JEC CEO and Group President Frédérique Mutel, Europe can take pride in the fact that it is an established leader in terms of manufacture of composite products. Technologically speaking, the continent leads in the composite sector and the scale of JEC Europe reflected its position.
All efforts in Europe are being targeted towards automating production. This is also a major challenge for the global composite industry. According to Frédérique Mutel, the patents for composite products, filed in Europe for the period 2010-2011, related to process innovations was 52%, the value that has not been reached in any other part of the world. Since the proportion in US and Japan is 23% and 16% respectively, it proves that Europe is on track in satisfying the worldwide mass production needs.
