Dripstop 940 pipe thread sealant, offered by Orlando, Florida-based Hernon Manufacturing, has been certified as containment free to ISO-22241 standards by Intertek Automotive Research, an accredited lab. Hence, it is ideal for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) applications. The material is particularly formulated to function with stainless steel pipe threading and at present, it is compatible with DEF.
Dripstop 940 is an anaerobic pipe sealant that has excellent sealing property and mild locking performance when compared to non-hardening dopes and tapes. It cuts down costs by improving the assembly line speed and preventing leakage. This general purpose sealant is suitable for firms that manufacture and install tools for transferring bulk amount of DEF. In addition, Dripstop 940 is ideal for both standard and stainless steel pipe thread fittings used in the petrochemical industries. Other applications of the sealant include fluid connections, pneumatic line fittings, piping for caustic sodas and chlorine, textile equipment, instrumentation fittings, refinery piping, pulp and paper mills, plated flare fittings and fuel line fittings.
The material offers instant sealing against gas and liquid leaks at moderate pressures. It is allowed to cure entirely for 24 hours at maximum pressures. Dripstop 940 is solvent free, which prevents shrinking or cracking due to solvent evaporation. In addition, it eliminates waste. Hernon Manufacturing's anaerobic pipe sealant resists high pressures, sealing about 250psig steam at 400°F and maintaining its chemical inertness. Dripstop 940 lubricates pipe threads during assembly process, eliminates galling, and ensures smooth disassembly. The sealant’s enhanced chemistry provides faster cure speeds on traditional materials like brass and carbon steel.
