Eastern Concrete Materials, a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Concrete, has inked a lease and marketing deal with Granite Ready Mix, Scara-Mix and associated firms situated at 707 Sharrotts Road in Staten Island, New York. The deal is effective from July 16, 2012.
The leased properties include a NYSDOT- and NYCDOB-approved batch plant that produces concrete for infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects in Staten Island. Eastern Concrete Materials will also trade stone, sand, and recycled aggregates in the island.
The expansion at Sharrotts Road is part of Eastern Concrete Materials’ plans to widen its reach in the New York City metropolitan region because the construction market is recovering. The Granite and Scara-Mix business will add value to Eastern Concrete Materials’ Master Mix business on the northwestern side of Staten Island, allowing the company to upgrade its fleet of 30 delivery trucks to facilitate complete service to Staten Island's highly populated southern and northern regions, as well as expand service to Eastern Concrete Materials’ adjacent ready-mix locations in New Jersey.
U.S. Concrete Atlantic Division’s Vice President and General Manger, Michael Gentoso stated that the company is happy to enter into this agreement with the Castellano family which began this business over two decades ago. The company anticipates increasing its sales in Staten Island by providing superior quality products and safe and consistent service to the customer base.
U.S. Concrete operates 7 producing-aggregates facilities, 7 precast concrete plants, 95 fixed and 12 portable ready-mixed concrete facilities.
